A Brief Biography

I studied art in college, but my painting career began in earnest after raising a family.  My first paintings, mostly done and sold in Germany, were in watercolor.  Fifteen years ago I switched to oil and acrylic which gave greater freedom of expression to my style of painting.

Over the years I have been fortunate to have studied with excellent painters in the New England area -- Steve Allrich, Lois Griffel, Charles Movalli, John Kilroy, William Maloney, Charles Sovek and Sam Barber.

I have also studied in France with teachers from Great Britain -- Gordon Faulkner and Elinor Stewart.

I have had a number of "one-woman" shows in the Boston area.  The most recent are:
The Dolphin Gallery, Hingham Library -- 2007
The South Street Gallery, Hingham -- 2005
Brookhaven Gallery, Lexington -- 2005
The South Shore Conservatory Gallery -- 2004
The James Library Gallery, Norwell -- 2002
The Landmark Building, Boston -- 2000
The Paul Pratt Library, Cohasset -- 1999

I have also shown in juried shows at the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable, the South Shore Art Center in Cohasset, The North River Arts Society in Norwell, the Arts Around Boston Show, and in Riberac, Southwest France.

I won the Sunrise Prize and the Winsor and Newton Painting Award at the South Shore Art Center Festival on the Common in Cohasset; First Place at a Blue Ribbon Show at the South Shore Art Center; and honorable mentions at shows at the Cape Cod Art Association, the South Shore Art Center and the North River Arts Society.

My paintings are in private collections throughout the United States and in France, Germany and Denmark.
